OCBC CYCLE MALAYSIA 2014

CBC CYCLE MALAYSIA is back, yup, it's back. And this year I'm joining the "Community Challenge" category, cycling thru the city of Kuala Lumpur for 48km..!. fooohhhhh..

Today is the Cycling pack collection at Dataran Merdeka Underground. Since I'm joining the challenge, one of it goodies is the paid jersey.. lat year I only got the t-shirt...

Will try to make it thru this coming 19 January 2014 by completing all 4 laps for 48km challenge... wish me luck.

Night MTB - Roadride 16 April 2013

ahh semalam setelah lama bercuti dari berkayuh,, Beskal aku pundah merajuk dah hampir berkarat, aku menjayakan juga niat untuk berkayuh diwaktu malam di KESAS highway. Aku joint satu group kayuhan nie dari FB group KELAB BASIKAL SHAH ALAM yang sememangnya berkayuhan setiap malam Selasa dan Khamis di KESAS.

Jarak kayuhan mengikut perancangan diorang ialah +/- 40km,, dari RnR KESAS Shah Alam arah Barat, menghala ke Klang sebelum berpusing balik ke Subang dan menghala balik ke RnR Shah Alam tadi..

Jadi aku pun @ 8.30 malam mula lah berkayuh dari rumah @ Alam Impian, melalui LKSA menghala ke KESAS. Sampai dipersimpangan HICOM/PROTON, aku divert arah kayuhan menyosang ke RnR KESAS Shah Alam arah Barat bertemu dengan group kayuhan.

Selepas berkayuh +/- 30 minit aku sampai ke RnR tempat pertemuan. Jarak Kayuhan dalam 10km. Disini kami menunggu "Riders" yang lain sebelum memulakan Kayuahan pada pukul 10.00 malam.

Masa nie terasa keletihan + "pancit"nya aku sebab lama tak berkayuh... semasa menghampiri 10km berkayuh aku dah mula terasa semput + "pening" tanda2 awal untuk berhenti.. Jadi memandangkan ada lagi 30++ km sebelum balik ke point permulaan, aku memutuskan untuk "break" group dan balik bersendirian. Masa ini aku berkayuh dengan marshall / Sweeper Kenny yang menemankan aku sambil memberi beberapa tips kayuhan untuk main gear dn kayuhan. Bila sampai di Jambatan Jalan Kebun, ak ubagi  tahu ke dia aku akan balik dari sini..

Jadi dari Jalan Kebun, berkayuh lah aku perlahan lahan di KESAS menuju ke LKSA untuk balik kerumah. Adalah dekat 10km jugak dari jambatan Jalan Kebun nie sebelum aku sampai kerumah... aduih yaaiii...

Akhirnya dlm pukul 11.30malam aku sampai ke rumah dengan jarak kayuhan 29km, oklah tu, pencapaian terbaik buat masa nie.. :)

Training for Sunday 20th Jan 2013




Lama dadah aku berhenti berkayuh nie.. tersangat lah jarangnya berkayuh,, ada kut 2-3 bulan baru sekali.. Tapi memandangkan tahun lepas aku dah daftar untuk "OCBC Ride" Januari nie, kenalah aku gagahkan jugak pi berlatih sorang diri.

SO hari nie cuti hantar kereta ke woksyop utk servis, aku amik peluang untuk berkayuh sementara menunggu kereta siap. Mula dari DMM Seksyen 15, aku kayuh masuk ke Federal Highway, kedian masuk semula ke Seksyen 15 pergi sarapan pagi kat Restoran Temerloh.. belum sarapan lagi pagi nie, mana boleh nak kayuh kalau yakde "energy", jadinya aku makan dulu secukup rasa, tak moh berat badan, nanti tak larat pulak nak kayuh..

Habis makan aku start balik kayuh, keluar ke federal Highway, menuju ke Padang Jawa, kemudian pusing ke Seksyen 7 & 8, sebelum berhenti minum air kat Shell Sekyen 9. Kedian aku kayuh balik mnuju ke Persiaran Dato' Menteri. Tapi tengok kat roundaboubt tu macam tak boleh nak masuk jer, (kereta banyak, almaklum dah dekat pukul 10, org dah lambat nak masuk ofis) aku U-turn masuk ke Seksyen 11, by-passs ikut dalam ke PErs Dato' Menteri, tapi sebelum tu berhenti berehat kejap selepas hampir 20 km kayuh. Lepas berehat ala kadar (ada sejam kut, ha ha ha aku sambung semula berkayuh ke SIRIM  dan pusing tasik 1 round sebelum terus balik ke woksyop tadi utk amik kereta.

Selut, lumpur & DH top speed

Main selut, lumpur dan down hill @ top speed 50.6 km/h !!!!! aahh heaven.. ha ha ha..



Seriously this is one of the best after heavy rain mountain biking. While other return back after looking at the 1st 5 meter of the DH trail (the DH strecth 5KM, to target location "Sofea Jane water fall"), we - five of us, new buddies (yup, known each other on that day) continue the ride DH after long climbing on tarmac road. With all break engage (my self) the bike keep on going DH until I hit a rock or falls to the side.. ha ha ha wahhhhh... The bike only slow down when it trapped in the mud - almost 3in depth.

How the ride started? Initially I planned for a ride at FRIM with my office colleague -  Nazri, who chicken out after the rain due to sore throat. ha ha ha,.. But as I know my buddy neighbor is going for a ride at Kemesah, I quickly enggage to follow him.

We met at ZOO NEGARA, and park next to the Aquarium. It is a open parking by the road side atndwas charged for RM6.00 by INX Enterprise -don't know whether they're qualified by DBKL or not. Here I met Rizal (my neighbor la) and his 2 others friend. 1 of them is riding STUMPJUMPER 29er.. yes, for the 1st time I can see it in action.

We started @ 8.30 am lead by RIzal, who happen to be the only 1 person familiar / know with this trail. He took us through 5km climbing on Tarmac road !!! ah man, I felt I was cheated. ha ha..

Finally after 3-4 phases of climbing the long stretch tarmac road, @ 171metre height from sea level, we reached the start point of Kemensah trail. It started with a short DH (10-20 meter) before we started to climb & climb & climb & climb again( at this point I wanted to turn back already), before team of ATVs' rider coming form our back. We have to stop and give way to teh ATVs, as the trail is just enough for 1 ATV to go through. we waited until all 3 groups (15 rider) pass us, before we continue climbing again.. and finally after 1 hour of climbing @ 335meter height we reach the top point for DH.. yeahhh...and the ride start...for 10 mins of DH ..

I think we rest here at the water fall for almost 1 hour before we start the long climb again to the main road. Here on Tarmac the DH more controllable, except for the passing by cars and motor.

Ramadhan night ride, Shah Alam - Kota Damansara


It's has been long... really long I have not ride my bicycle, and finally last Friday night I had the chance to ride back with "KayuhBeb" member.

Cycling started at Dataran Shah Alam @ 11.00 PM 27th July 2012, after 30 minutes of waiting for last member to joint. Cycling through bikes route heading Bt 3 toll, before we took "Jalan Batu 3 lama" eading Glenmarie and Airport Subang. Then we cycle thru Ara Damansara until we reached Kota Damansara.

Then, after resting +/- 30 minute, journey cycling back to Shah Alam started @ 1am through Jalan Shah Alam - Sg. Buloh.

Bikes are the future, not cars

Philip Taylor, outgoing president of the Bicycle Association, has highlighted how he thinks bikes are on the rise and cars on the decline.
In the course of some unusual crystal-ball grazing, Taylor stressed his belief that global urbanisation means car mileage will continue to decline and bicycle mileage will increase, as the battle for space in cities intensifies, and economic and health challenges swing the pendulum ever more the bicycle's way.
Taylor referred to statistics compiled by the World Bank, which show that the percentage of the world's population who live in cities is growing. That raises health and environmental concerns: more road accidents and deaths from air pollution, for example.
In the UK there's a huge degree of urbanisation. Eighty percent of the populace (50 million people) are classified as urban-dwelling and urbanisation is forecast to grow at 0.7 percent – 350,000 people – a year to 2015.
Taylor suggested that the Government's financial support for electric cars, to the tune of £20 million at the end of last year (grants of up to £5,000 available to individual buyers), would not solve the space problem. "This ... is unlikely to change as a result of us all driving electric cars – however heavily subsidised!" he said.
He summed up the importance of the bicycle as part of the solution in rousing terms: "Although cycling in the UK may still not be what it was in the early 20th century, in either an industrial sense or in ownership and usage terms, it is, I'm convinced, on an unstoppable upward trend that can only be positive for all involved in the sector."
Taylor will be succeeded as Bicycle Association president by Mark Bickerton, one of the pioneers of the folding bicycle.
Backing from transport analysts
Transport analysts have been making the case for some time for an argument they call 'peak car', just as those who believe usable oil reserves will dwindle in the years to come have been said to follow the theory of 'peak oil'. 'Peak car' adherents, such as Phil Goodwin, Professor of Transport Policy  at the University of the West of England, and Lyn Sloman, director of Transport for Quality of Life, point out the following:
  • Between 1992 and 2007, the number of UK 17- to 29-year-olds who held driving licences fell by about 10 percent
  • Private transport's share of UK trips declined from 50 percent in 1993 to 41 percent in 2008.
  • According to Lynn Sloman, between 2004 and 2008, car trips per person went down by nine percent and car distance per person by five percent.
"Car use in Britain is on the decline but no-one is exactly sure why," said Goodwin.
David Metz, Visiting Professor at the Centre for Transport Studies, University College, London, highlighted that city as an example of what may happen elsewhere in the country in future. "The population density of London has been going up, but the number of car trips per day has stayed steady," he said. "In other words, car journeys per person are falling. This (car use) reached its peak in the early 1990s, has been declining ever since and it's projected to go on declining as the population keeps growing."
Some trends may help explain the move to less car use – internet-enabled home working and shopping, for example, and increasing motoring costs – but these are significant enough to explain only part of the decline. Academics like Goodwin and Metz point to transport policies helping to make some inner city areas – like London's Hoxton and Shoreditch – fashionable areas to live, the opposite of the situation 20 years ago. The New Urbanism movement sums up this trend.
But the UK Government certainly don't seem to have fallen in behind the peak car theory – the Department for Transport are working on the assumption that motor traffic will grow by 25 percent from 2003 to 2025.

Gian kayuh

Lama sangat dah tak berkayuh malam, dek terlalu gian, aku keluar juak jumaat malam lepas buat seround sekitar Shah Alam.



Kayuhan bermula dari rumah aku @ Alam Impian, melalui LKSA seksyen 19 dan naik ke Bulatan Ampuan Rahimah. memula hajat nak ikt ke Persiaran Dato' Menteri, tapi tukar ke Masjid Negeri (melalui seksyen 9) dan dan naik ke Dataran Shah Alam. On the way balik, singgah kejap kat Frenzy Futsal, tengok kekawan yg berfutsal kat situ malam tu, kedian joint minum malam di Andaman Seksyen 23. Habis minum berkayuh balik ke rumah semula sesorang (kekawan futsal tadi balik naik kereta laaa)..

Le Tour de' Langkawi 2011

Tadi sempat menyaksikan LTDL 2011 kat depan Bangunan Rohas Perkasa, Jalan Perak.. Malaysia rider ditempat ke-3 masa lalu kat sini tadi.. tapi macam takde sambutan kat sini, tak ramai org yg menengok.. mungkin sebab cuti 1 Februari la kut.

30 Jan 2011 - Kayuhan di Alam Budiman (bersama kayuhbeb)

Pagi pagi lagi dalam kedinginan cuaca sejuk dek hujan semalaman, aku dah kerah badan ke Alam Budiman, unutk joint geng KayuhBeb. Aku pun dah lama dah tak berkayuh, entah larat entah tidak nak berkayuh hari nie..



Result keseluruhan kayuhan sejauh 22 KM dengan pelbagai “kejatuhan” yang aku lalui hari..

Kayuhan bermula seawall jam 8.15 pagi, kalau tak silap pandang jam aku la.. itupun desebabkan cuaca mendung yang dah mula berarak ke arah Alam Budiman..  Dari point permulaan, kayuhan diatas Jalan Batu Arang menuju ke simpang Jalan Paip. Dari sini kami masuk ke jalan kecil menuju ke Tangki Puncak Alam sebelum masuk ke trail hutan dengan pendakian sepenuh tenaga didalam hujan renyai yang sudah mula turun.. Trail nie melalui tapak “KABOOM” kes siasatan yang masih berjalan.. Di sini juga salah seorang bikers terpaksa berpatah hati kerana “hanger” bike sudah patah dan langsung berpatah balik dengan single speed menuju ke point permulaan.

 Apa sajalah yg sedang dicari kat sini..

 Nampak rendah yerr.. cubalah sekali nanti.. 


Selepas mendapat kata putus rder yang kepatahan hati tadi sudah berpatah balik.. kayuhan diteruskan untuk menuruni bukit ke CP2… tang nie laa yg aku terbabas masuk semak, sebab nak mengelak tersangkut kat pagar.. ada gak org berkebun dalam hutan nie… hisshhh…

Selepas puas makan angin menuruni bukit dan berkayuh dicelah celah semak samun, kami sampai kembali ke Jalan Batu Arang. Dari sini kayuhan diteruskan lagi diatas Jalan Batu Arang menuju ke Bukit Ramli. Jalan menuju ke bukit Ramli pun merupakan jalan mendaki yg penuh dengan cabaran tanah licin - tanah merah yg basah dek hujan berterusan. SIni sekali lagi aku terbabas BAEK punya.. masuk ke lopak jalan tanah merah… sebab tak nampak lubang.. (LAIN KALI KAYUH BESKAL JANGAN SESUKA REDAH LOAK AIR, HA HA HA HA).. Aduh sakit betul.. termenung kejap aku lepas tu… Namun kayuhan perlu juga diteruskan sehingga ke point penamat. Tapi sebelum tu, perut yang kosong perlu dijamu.

Selepas menuruni Bukit Ramli, kayuhan diteruskan ke Jalan Paip menuju ke kedai Lontong dan Mee Jawa didepan Surau Darul Aman. Memang sedap membelasah lontong selepas penat berkayuh,, bertambah balik lemak2 yang dah terbakar tadi,..

Inilah rupanya warung Lontong dan Mee Jawa yg famous di Jalan Paip tu. Jangan terkejut dah ada org tag dalam "foursquare".


Syukur Alhamdulillah aku sempat sampai,, kalau tak menjamu mata saje laa..


  
Cif-cif tengah berbincang untuk tunngu sikit masa lagi (biar hujan lagi lebat) atau nak teruskan perjalanan sekarang..

Selesai menjamu selera, dalam keadaan hujan yang masih berterusan, kayuhan diteruskan untuk pulang kembali ke point permulaan tadi melalui Jalan Paip dan Kampung Budiman.. Disini ada juga rider2 yng berpecah haluan untuk melayan bukit Botak pulak… Aku,, tak tahan sejuk opt utk balik ke pangkal jalan..


Kayuhan tamat pada pukul 12.30tgh dalam cuaca sejuk bukit disertai hujan yang masih belum berhenti…

26 Dec 2010 - Kayuhan Jamboree (JAMBUFREE) Bukit KEmandul, Jalan Kebun bersama KaYuHbEb

Posting terlewat…

Perghh… memanglah, kalo kayuhan santai, ramei jer yg joint,, ada dekat 80 orang peserta kayuhan hari nie. Seawal 7.30 pagi aku dah sampai ke belekang sekolah kat Jalan bukit KEmandul tu, sebelum aku dimaklumkan tempat berkumpul sebenar di Kolam Ikan Rombak…

Ntah pukul berapa aku tak ingat kayuhan dimulakan selepas short briefing dari komandan kayuhan K’Rule… Kayuhan diketuai Man Sawit penunjuk arah didalam kawasan tanah gondol dan semak samun bukit Kemandul, melalui ladang Sawit.. buah2-an dan kebun the BOH!!! Haaaa bukan Cameron Highland, tapi KLANG LOWLAND punya ladang.. kat sini tayar depan beskal aku pancit ditusuk duri pelepah Sawit.. adussss…. Tiub spare dah pakai semalam… hari ni tak sempat nak pi kedai cari.. Mujur Bro Rosni ada extra dan Bro Wahid ada pump.. sempatlah berehat kejap sambil aku menggantikan tiub beskal,. Lepas nie kena prepare lebih sikit kalau nak redah lading sawit,, sepanjang kayuhan hari nie banyak betul incident yang memang dijangkakan berlaku.. tak silap kiraan ada 4 beskal pancit + 1 kes PANCIT.. mahu taknya.. laluan tanah merah gondol dengan batu kerikil betul betul mencabar keringat peluh dan otot2 betis… Tapi kali ni aku dah prepare dengan AL-UNTA beg utk bekalan air.. kalau harap botol kecik aku dulu tu, memang setengah jalan aku dah patah balik…

Selepas berkayuh sejauh 25 KM sahaja (lebih kurang 2 1/2 jam) ladang jambu, sasaran destinasi utama kelihatan.. dan semua pengayuh tegar teruja menerjah masuk ke Ladang Jambu mencari buah yg enak dimakan tatkala kelaparan, kedahagaan dan keletihan.. Next time towkey ladang jambu boleh buka 1 stall standby jual air jambu lak... selepas selesai melahap selera, kayuhan ditamatkan dengan berkayuh kembali ke kolam ikan Rombak… balik cepat lah pulak sampainya....

Awal Muharram ride..

Di awal pagi muharram, dalam keadaan batuk2 yg belum reda.. aku kayuh balik beskal yg dah lama tersadai..bertemankan si Syahnaz,  disebabkan angin tayar beskal dah kurang, dan carik pam tak jumpa aku kayuh jugaklah pela2 sampai ke Stesen Petronas Kesas (Arah Timur) sebelum mengambil angin sikit...Asalnya plan nak ke PCP, tapi tak cukup korum, jadi roadie jer lah.. Kali nie route ditukar sikit, masuk ke SUbang, melalui Persiaran Kewajipan, sebelum turuk ke Glenmarie, dan balik melalui D'Kayangan Shah Alam... Sebab dah semput, kaki pun dah cramp, tak sempat lah nak daki pers Dato' Menteri... minyak cramp pun ntah kemana ntah perginya, time emergency macam nie boleh pulak takde dalam beg..

Total ride: 35km. (jadilah)...

14/8/2010 Shah Alam night ride

setelah sekian lama tidak berkayuh malam, akhirnya malam tadi bersama Syahnaz, aku joint geng2 KayuhBeb dan Rotor-X berkayuh malam dibandar Shah Alam. Kayuhan dijadualkan bermula dari Dataran Shah Alam @ 10.30 malam, tapi ditangguhkan sehingga 11.30 malam dan 12.oo malam (dua batch) disebabkan masalah technical yang dialami oleh geng dari Klang (Rotor-x). Kayuhan SANTAI aka BANTAI jer lah... melalui kawasan perumahan disekitar Shah Alam dan juga kediaman Menteri (Bukit Menteri, Seksyen 7) dimana ketahanan mental diuji sepenuhnya,, bukan ketahana fizikal.. nie dah antara nak teruskan atau tidak mendaki bukit menteri yang mencecah sehingga 60 meter.. FUHHHH. itu jer mampu aku katakan,, TIPAH TERTIPU... TIPAH TERTIPU BANG.... lain kali ikut lagi. minggu depan set kayuhan dgn KayuhBeb di KESAS highway lak..

20 june 2010 - Sunday Ride with Isma

Route Sunday Ride (20 June 2010) with Isma.. Start on SOlo from home, via Persiaran Tun Teja heading to Jln BT 4, then straight to Kesas highway via Jalan Kebun. Cycling along Kesas highway motorway until met with Isma on flyover Puchong / Shah Alam. Turn back to Federal highway (klang bound) via Pers Kuala Selangor and Pers Tengku Ampuan Rahimah with a quick stop refill at Petronas Section 19. Head back to Alam Impian via LKSA.

Distance: 30.2 km
Duration: 1 h 38 min 24 sec
Max Speed: 43.8 km/h
Avg Speed: 18.4 km/h
Avg Oace: 3 min 15 sec per km.

Sunday Solo

One clear Sunday morning, solo ride with my Ipod from AI to KESAS highway and back, close to 30 km, non-stop, except for quick tyre air checked and refresher.. Not too busy road as it's Sunday morning, and State played early morning @ 2 am in FIFA World Cup so all the Fan still sleeping.

22 May 2010 - Kayuhan FRIM..

Dalam suasana sejuk pagi, kayuhan ke FRIM dari PKKN dimulakan.. tak disangka,, sejuk mengundang hujan tika tiba dipuncak Helipad.. waa.. bergegas turun mencari pondok berteduh dalam sekelip mata tiba ke bawah.. tak cukup tanah dibuatnya,,,

Ride kali nie, agak singkat jalannya.. PKKN-Steroid-Helipad-FRIM dan balik terus ke PKKN tanpa melalui Dream trail.. Bukt putus juga tak ditempuhi sebab jalan lecah / basah tak hingat punya...
